August is a unique month. Usually, I focus on my monthly layout and not in the weekly or daily spreads. Since, it is my vacation month, when life gets slowed down and there aren’t much things to write down daily, the month at a glance spread comes to the rescue!
For my August 2020 theme, I chose a rainbow in earthy tones, with black accents. For the creation of my theme, I am using LYRA’s aqua brush duo pens, the package of 36pcs which is full of earthy tones, in a variety of shades!
For the monthly cover, I am using a polaroid style creation, using Daler Rowney’s papers: the 250gsm mixed media paper and the 160gsm paper from the artist’s sketch book.
I am starting by drawing two coloured blobs on my notebook and then I paint green the corners of the polaroid frame. For an artistic effect, I am using a water brush to dissolve the green colour. The LYRA’s aqua brush duo markers behave great when they are thinned with water and the result is perfect!
I continue with the rainbow design. I am doing one colour at a time and I use the water brush to give the watercolour effect. There is no point to make perfect rainbow arches, since you can always correct any mistakes with the water. Another great tip is to do the next arch a little bit far apart the previous one, so as to make it as wide as you want. The design is complete with a sun!
Once the paper is dry, glue the papers on the notebook. I am using the black marker (such a rich black colour!) to add some accents and of course to hand letter the “August” title on the polaroid! The cover is completed with some black patterned washi tape!
Onwards with the Month-at-a-glance layout! I am creating a grid month with small boxes for each day.
I leave enough space below the table so as to add important dates or things to remember! I am creating the month table with the orange LYRA’s marker small tip and the table is completed with the same accents as in the cover. I chose the most vibrant earthy shades, so as to create the borders and the titles background.
The spread is completed with a page of three lists: a to-do, a shopping and a packing list. I fond those lists most useful for August and I want them to be next to my month grid for easy reference! Finally, I use the same accents and washi tape as in the previous layout!
Happy August everyone!!!
Until next time!
